55. Negotiate For What You Want with Sports Lawyer and Entrepreneur Alex Sinatra

On today’s episode, I’m talking with Alex Sinatra, a lawyer and entrepreneur.

Alex is the CEO and Founder of Your Potential for Everything, which is a strategic sports consulting business specializing in helping women and women-owned businesses in the sports & esports industries gain clarity, confidence, and grow their businesses.

She holds a BBA in Marketing and a JD from Texas A&M University and Texas A&M University School of Law, respectively. She has been an in-house counsel for a famous sports family, a multinational company, and most recently, a professional sports team.

Besides all of that, Alex also hosts a podcast, Your Potential for Everything, that delves into topics ranging from networking to entrepreneurship to esports. She is a multipotentialite and interviews guests that have the unique ability to shift from industry to industry and be successful in all of them. She is also the published author of The Your Potential for Everything series currently available on Amazon.

We talk about:

  • Deciding to start her own business
  • Being a “multipotentialite,” which is a modern-day renaissance woman
  • Marketing yourself and asking for what you want
  • The importance of networking and viewing it as building relationships over time
  • Time-blocking, and setting goals for yourself
  • Gracefully, and firmly, calling out the men who confuse your confidence for abrasiveness
  • Negotiate for what you want with confidence
  • Figuring out your unique skills and digging in

And like I promised in the episode, I’ve created a FREE worksheet to help you navigate how to negotiate like a boss (without being stuck between the rock and the hard place that is negotiating as a woman).

We also talked about the book Range by David Epstein. This book is fantastic, and as an expert generalist myself, I was fascinated by Epstein’s research, and with all his books, he’s such a great story-teller that it’s a fantastic read.
