Dr. Clea Tucker has a Clinical Doctorate of Physical Therapy and is currently an Assistant Professor of Kinesiology at California State University, Los Angeles. Previously she worked with the Cirque du Soleil as a member of their performance team and she is also an entrepreneur who had her own performance company called Synergy Performance.
Clea began her journey with two undergraduate degrees, a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training/Exercise Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication: Film and TV. She later went back to school and earned her Clinical Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Azusa Pacific University.
Dr. Tucker has worked with performing artists such as through the Cirque du Soleil, as well as professional athletes in the NFL, NBA, and MLB, as well as Olympic athletes.
Dr. Tucker has such an incredible story and journey to share. As a woman of color who also experienced homelessness, she used defiance to refuse to become a statistic. That defiance propelled her forward into college, into earning multiple degrees, into going after a job with the Cirque du Soleil, and into building her own business.
Due to some technical difficulties, we attempted to record this episode a few times. The audio is not perfect but the quality of what Dr. Tucker has to say is excellent. So please stick around and have a listen to her amazing story.
We talk about
- Using defiance to fuel a path forward and to carve a path for those following in her footsteps
- Re-evaluating goals and expectations along the way
- Refusing to carry bitterness, anger, and heavy weights that do not serve her
