28. Dealing with the Patriarchy with Downhill Mountain Biker Tes Moulton

Tes Moultin is a downhill mountain biking racer and currently the only woman on the Revolution Racing Team. In addition to racing professionally, she coaches and mentors young girls in the Saratoga Shredders riding program.

Tes is currently working towards a dual degree in Anthropology and Sociology at Vassar College. She was able to pursue her leadership goals with the eventual plan to go to law school, by earning a scholarship through the Posse Foundation.

Tes is an Air Force veteran who was the first woman president of SUNY Adirondack’s veterans club where she earned an Associate’s degree after finishing her time in the military.

She balances her training and competition and full-time schooling with being a full time X-Ray tech in an emergency department.

We talk about:

  • Being comfortable in your femininity when you’re in a masculinized space
  • Turning perceived obstacles into challenges that can be overcome
  • Letting go of balance and making each day one hell of a ride
