32. Turning Research into Action with Professor Rebecca Hasson

Rebecca Hasson, PhD is an Associate Professor of Movement Science and Director of the Childhood Disparities Research Laboratory at the University of Michigan School of Kinesiology.

Dr. Hasson has received over $1 million in grant funding for her research, which focuses on the causes and consequences of childhood obesity in multiethnic populations. Currently she’s focusing on using physical activity to create equitable health opportunities for children with her InPACT at school and InPACT at home programs.

InPACT = Interrupting Prolonged Sitting with Activity.

Rebecca is on the Executive Committee for the Council on Black Health and is a Past-President of the Society for the Analysis of African-American Public Health Issues. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine.

Rebecca was the W.K. Kellogg Health Scholars Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center on Social Disparities in Health at the University of California – San Francisco. Before that she did a post doc at the Childhood Obesity Research Center at the University of Southern California. Dr. Hasson earned her PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Massachusetts where she also earned her Masters and Bachelors in Exercise Science.
