48. Finding Your Identity with Triathlete Coach and Entrepreneur Whitney Kailos Taylor

On today’s episode, I’m talking with Whitney Kailos Taylor, Entrepreneur and Owner of Strength in Light LLC and Senior Account Manager at RunSignup.

With a race director for a mom, Whitney grew up in the endurance world. She turned to running during college for the mental benefits, but kept getting stress fractures. With an interest in nutrition and training in psychology, she initially planned to go the academic route and study optimal nutrition for women athletes. But during a gap year, she got a job in the endurance industry with a tech startup that made race registration software, and she fell in love. She continued to train, and unfortunately suffered a pelvic fracture that put her on the sidelines for a long time considering her future. With additional training and certification, Whitney decided to start her own business, Strength in Light, helping to train and educate other women about optimally fueling your body for sport, and the dangers of Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport.

Whitney earned her Bachelors in Psychology from Christopher Newport University. She is a Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach, a USAT Triathlon Level 1 Coach, and is currently working on getting her Complete Human Performance Trainer coaching certification.

We talk about:
• Discovering your identity when your world gets flipped upside down
• Figuring out your why
• Getting over imposter syndrome so you can make an impact
