On today’s episode, I’m talking with Dr. Deb Roche, a sport psychologist.
Dr. Roche always knew she wanted to go into psychology, and luckily (and happily) found her way into sport psychology. She started her career as the Assistant Director of Student Services for Athletes at the University of Delaware while doing her post-doc in the counseling center. She was able to combine the development of student-athletes with the sport psychology work and built an incredible foundation to her career.
Ultimately, she left to start her own business, Counseling and Sport Psychology Services, and more recently added part-time work at HSS as a member of their Women’s Sports Medicine Center.
Deb earned her BA in Psych and English at the University of Maryland and her PhD in Counseling Psychology at the University of Buffalo. She was doing a post-doc at the University of Delaware counseling center when the athletics position opened up, and the rest is history!
We talk about:
- The benefits of jumping in before having every single detail worked out
- Networking to build your business and your practice
- Setting limits and boundaries
