Dr. Mary Mulcahey is an orthopedic surgeon who completed a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine. We talked about so many important career-related topics I had trouble picking any one of them for the title of this episode!
Dr. Mulcahey is currently the Director of Tulane’s Women’s Sports Medicine Program. In addition to being a team physician for Tulane Athletics, she is also a team physician for local gymnastics, roller derby, and women’s rugby teams.
Mary is the only female board member for the Arthroscopy Association of North America. She also serves on the editorial board for the American Journal of Sports Medicine and is secretary for the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society.
While doing all of that, she also has over 100 publications!
We talk about:
- The benefits of having different mentors for different stages of your career
- The critical nature of having a strong network and the changes in networking
- Finding ways to contribute meaningfully while also serving your own career when considering new opportunities
