Build Your Confidence
It’s the second Tuesday of the month so I’m taking a deep dive into how the only way to truly build your confidence and maintain your confidence (while working in a male-dominated field) is from the inside out.
(Welcome to this series! On the second Tuesday of the month, I take a deeper dive into a topic that comes up in the Madam Athlete podcast interviews or in my course, the Women’s Career Transformation Academy. The goal is to provide a little extra knowledge and empowerment beyond the inspirational interviews of my amazing guests’ unique career journeys. Enjoy!)
Inside This Episode
Yes, that fabulous cover photo is young Giselle (aka, me) full of confidence and sass and let’s be real, attitude!
I shared this photo with you as a friendly reminder that girls’ confidence levels starts to drop around age 9. And it’s no small drop. It’s more a catastrophic plummet.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t magically pick back up after puberty. Oh, and that’s right, the boys going through puberty aren’t having this same drop in confidence, so it’s not all acne-related awkwardness.
Puberty’s about the time we start to realize that society wasn’t built for women. Or rather, it wasn’t built for women to be confident, and bold, and loud, and brave, and strong, and fierce, and angry, and awesome…
In addition, you’re being bombarded with patriarchal messaging that you don’t belong (either overtly, or subtly & systemically, cause that’s just how sh*t’s built). And it’s even worse if you’re working in a male-dominated field, like sports and athletics.
So I’m talking about building and maintaining your confidence in the face of this adversity.
Here’s the crucial summary… having true self-confidence has to be internal. It depends on the thoughts you are telling yourself about yourself. It cannot depend on external validation.
I talk about the mindset shift and thought work to help make it happen even in the face of constantly being told you don’t belong or that you’re not good enough.
This is the kind of coaching I provide in the Women’s Career Transformation Academy. The next session doesn’t open until May, but if you’re ready to build your confidence and take ownership of your career, sign up on the waitlist so you don’t miss out!
